*virtual* Crop on the Cape 2021

I treated myself to a virtual craft retreat for the first time and it was the most creative fun I have had in a long time! I've been following Jenn Shurkus for a while because I love seeing her bright and colorful cards (especially Lawn Fawn and anything with Copic coloring). When she announced a virtual version of her Crop on the Cape retreat, I jumped at the chance to join in because it is usually held in Cape Cod (on the exact opposite side of the country). I was extra excited to participate in a Lawn Fawn card class that included all the details about Copic coloring these cute critters. Jenn had her team stamp and die cut everything in the kits ahead of time so we could focus on coloring and assembling the card fronts (pictured above). One of my favorite demonstrations from a sponsor was all about Deco Foil. I don't own a laminator so I've never tried it before. floral thank you cards with paper scraps

I got these really fun floral dies from my local papercraft store . The set is called Stackable Florals from Sizzix and it's perfect for using up all my paper scraps that I can't bear to recycle. Since I had a piece of this extra special foiled gold cardstock, I took the time to die cut the sentiment in a straight line (using the Neat & Tangled Journaling Alpha dies).  Then I used the negative piece for a super easy second card.

"falling for you" card

I had a bunch of stamped and die cut leaves from a new Stampin' Up set.  The stamp set is called Wonderfall and the matching Sizzix die is called Autumn Accents .   It is the first time I have tried to stamp onto die cut shapes with a red rubber cling stamp (as opposed to a clear stamp) and it certainly has a learning curve.  Not all of the leaf tips and stems line up but I'm getting better.   And I have been wanting to use a sentiment from the Autumn Kelley Purkey stamp set , so I whipped up this little number today.  As you can see I had a hard time choosing a leaf combo for the card.  The only problem with these die cuts is that they are a bit big for cards.
