Crafteeo helmet kit and a giveaway!

Crafteeo contacted me recently and asked if I would like to review one of their crafting kits. I loved hearing how the company got started. A dad saw his son more interested in cardboard boxes than electronic toys at Christmas. He quickly put together a helmet from a shipping box and Crafteeo was born. It helps that they are in San Diego (my hometown!) and put a focus on spending time with kids while creating. Since doing crafts with kids is one of my favorite ways to play I was happy to test out a helmet kit.

Right away I loved the durability of the helmet (multiple layers of corrugated cardboard are really sturdy) and the light up feature was a big hit. I taped off the light with some washi tape so we could get started painting.

My four year old crafting partner is not as careful when it comes to painting as a school ago kiddo. We spent about 20 minutes painting, and as you can see it will take another one or two sessions to complete the painting.

My little crafter was a bit late to the world of dress up (she spent a lot of time cutting and gluing and painting), but I can see this helmet becoming a regular part of her play time. Yesterday she was trying to escape a snow monster! And for the older kids, there is a very intricate backstory for these helmets, complete with illustrations.

Christiana at Crafteeo sent me an assembled helmet kit, ready to be painted, because she knew about my time restraints. But these kits would be so much fun to assemble with kids that are a just a bit older. And after spending a few crafting sessions constructing and painting your kits with the kids, they will have a costume piece that will foster endless hours of imaginative play.

You can see a short video about the assembly of a helmet kit here:

And the generous people at Crafteeo were kind enough to sponsor a giveaway! Please use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter for your chance to win one of the two helmet kits up for grabs.

Disclaimer: Crafteeo sent me the product featured in this review, and is providing the prizes for this contest. All opinions are my own.

That helmet is awesome! We've been doing lots of mosaic-type crafts lately. Something like this would be a big hit.

My son and I like to do a lot of crafts that involve painting. We paint rocks, vegetables and canvas for example. This kit would be great fun for him!
